My First Boxy Charm & “The Woman in the Window”

Have you heard of Boxy Charm?  Yeah, I hadn’t either, until I was trapped in bed for a week and trolled subscription box sites like it was my job.  The blog, My Subscription Addiction is a dangerous place to go, but I went there.  And the number one beauty box, according to these experts is Boxy Charm.  It’s so cool, there’s even a wait list.  Basically, I needed to get Boxy Charm in my life, and this month, I got my first box.

For only $20, I got 5 full size makeup items worth $148.  I have no idea how that’s even possible, but it happened.  So what was in the box?

  1. Dr. Brandt – Pores no More Luminizer Primer $38
  2. It Cosmetics – Brow Power Universal Eyebrow Pencil $24
  3. Crown Pro – Glam Metals Palette $25
  4. Pur the Complexion Authority – Bronze and Brighten Cheek Palette $34
  5. Grande Cosmetics – GrandeLips Hydrating Lip Plumper

I tried them all out this morning.  The primer is a really good one.  My pores are hiding and it definitely has a bit of a glow to it, which is a good thing.  Anything that can make me look less tired than I am, yes please!  I don’t understand how a brow pencil could be universal, but it worked on this girl.  I blended two of the shadows from the Glam Metal palette together, and it was “a breeze,” like the instruction card promised.  They’re really high pigmented, just like the Bronze and Brighten cheek palette.  I cheated a little here, and used one of them to highlight my brow line, instead of on my cheeks.  I was running out of time and had to be mommy helper at preschool today.  I was a little nervous about being able to control all that pigment on my cheeks, and not looking like a clown and scaring the children.  I will play it when I have more time…

I am in love with the GrandeLips!  I was nervous about the color, but you can control the color with how many layers you put on.  I had a bit of trouble figuring out how to work it.  There is a button on the bottom that I had to click about 30 times to get the product to go up into the applicator.  Hyaluronic acid occurs naturally in the body, but mostly in young people’s bodies.  Any time you can put hyaluronic acid on your body, do it.  I got an oxygen facial this month, and she put hyaluronic acid on my face and blew it as deep as it would go into my pores with a medical grade oxygen blower thing.  Yes, that’s it’s technical name.  GrandeLips has hyaluronic acid and Volulip as the active ingredients.  It tingles a little, but in a good way.

So my verdict on Boxy Charm, WORTH IT!!  I signed up for 3 months to check it out properly and not judge it by only one month.  I may have to get a bigger makeup box, if I decide to keep getting them after that because it’s a lot of makeup!!  But I almost feel like I’m losing money by not doing it… $128 in free product to be exact.

What about The Woman in the Window?  Steven King says it’s “Unputdownable.”  It’s #1 on The New York Time’s Bestseller List, so is The Wife Between Us: A Novel, the last book I read.  The Woman in the Window took me a little longer to get into, but once I did, Steven King is totally right, unputdownable.  The less you know about the book, the better off you are when you read it.  So take my word, or Steven King’s word, or the New York Time’s word, and get this book.  Really, both of them, because I have to say I gave The Wife Between Us 5 stars, and this one 4 stars.  4 stars is still really good, definitely worth the read.
