Ghosted was one of my summer books from Book of the Month Club.  This is Rosie Walsh’s first novel, but came with great reviews from authors I like.  Liane Moriarty said, “I absolutely loved this book and didn’t want it to end.”  Right now, it has 4 out of 5 stars on Amazon, and I agree with the 4 star rating.

The book is divided into parts, and Part 1 took me forever to get into with the storyline.  I thought it was going to be super predictable and incapable of an appealing ending.  Wow, I know, kinda harsh.  But I am so glad I kept going because even before Part 1 was totally over, I was INTO the story.  I read it in less than 2 days on vacation.  I was bummed that it ended because I ended up liking the characters so much, both through the Walsh’s wonderful development of them and also their evolution throughout the story.

I feel this book falls into the Chick Lit genre with some plot twists and turns that make it feel a little like a not-scary thriller.  Bottom line, worth the read and not as predictable as it seems to be.  Of course there were some super obvious things, but for the most part, I was impressed, especially for a first novel.  I would have given 5 stars, but it didn’t suck me in quickly enough.

On another note, I highly recommend Book of the Month Club to anyone who likes to read at least one book a month.  They are less expensive than Amazon, and sometimes, you can even get books before they are released!

What are you reading?  I just started Cross Her Heart by Sarah Pinborough.  It’s actually also a BOTM Club book: my September one.  I picked it because I LOVED “Behind Her Eyes”.  So far so good!  She’s a great author!
